Hello My Name Is...

Lathonia Joiner, ED.S.

I am a teacher and leader of exceptional children. I am so excited to be your teacher this school year! I am a proud Alumni of the Macon County School System.  I went on to earn my undergraduate degree from Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, GA, as well as, my master’s and specialist degrees. This is going to be my 14th year teaching! I have taught elementary school, middle school, high school, college, behavioral education, DJJ, within the prison system as a full-time teacher, and served as principal of the first male prison charter school in the state of Georgia. I have taught math, science, social studies, reading, language arts, character education, reading intervention, computer programming, ethics, basic computer operations, and GED classes.

This year I will be teaching math, as well as, college and career readiness.  I look forward to this being a great year in spite of the challenges we are facing with the COVID-19 pandemic.  We have to make a few adjustments, but our team at Macon County Middle/High School is determine to make it as normal as we can to ensure that each and every one of our students is successful, because we live, work, and strive to achieve our motto “One Team, One Dream!”
