Macon County School System
Office of the Superintendent
July 30, 2025
To the Macon County Community,
As we prepare to launch the 2025–2026 school year, I want to share an important update regarding our ongoing preparations to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all.
During our routine start-of-year inspections, we identified the presence of non-toxic mold in some areas of our buildings. This type of mold is common in our region, especially during the summer months when extreme temperatures, limited HVAC usage, and high humidity levels can impact building conditions.
In response, we have partnered with SERVPRO, a professional cleaning and remediation service. While only specific areas were affected, we are taking proactive steps to clean all of our schools thoroughly and to treat all areas of concern. These efforts are being made out of an abundance of caution and a deep commitment to the health and safety of our students and staff.
We’re excited to see many of you at our Back to School Bash this Saturday and can’t wait to welcome students back on August 4th for the first day of school.
Thank you for your continued support and trust in Macon County Schools.
Warmly,
Dr. Johnathan "J.B." Roberts, Jr.
Macon County School System
